Things to be Aware Of
- All South Carolina rules of the road, including DUI and open container laws, apply to golf carts.
- Children may not legally drive golf carts. Golf carts should only be operated by those with a valid driver's license.
- Controls can be hard to see at night, so make sure that you know how to turn the headlights on, and verify that they are operational before you need them.
- Consider your pet's security when driving. It is a good idea to restrain pets, as pets have been fatally injured by falling out of carts.
- Be mindful of the visibility of oncoming traffic when passing.
- Carts may not be driven on the beach.
- Be mindful of where you park when you go to the beach. Golf carts often get stuck in the deep, loose sand closer to the shore.
- Fuel tanks for gas carts are usually located under the front seat. The seats generally hinged at the front of the seat and can be lifted upward.
