Applying for a Ferry ID
Individuals who want to obtain a Daufuskie Island resident ID card (now referred to by the county as a QDR card) should apply to get one using the online application. We have been informed that the current ferry provider will no longer be accepting old ID cards past April 30, 2024, and those without a new card will pay the full fare.
The county has further indicated that "...to receive your new QDR Card, accounts with past due balances on their Palmetto Breeze account must be settled in full. Amounts with positive balances will be transferred to their new Lowcountry Ferry rider account once you have been issued a new QDR. This will enable you to continue enjoying discounted ferry services as a Daufuskie Island Resident."
For permanent residents, Palmetto Breeze has been requesting the following:
- Copy of driver’s licenses for all adult applicants
- Copy of the most recent tax bill or a copy of the deed to the property
- Copies of birth certificates or guardianship papers for any dependent applicants i.e. children or dependent adults
- Marriage certificate for spouses who are not listed on the deed or property tax bill.
- Trust documents identifying the applicant as benefits
For part time home or land owners:
