Before departing, it is recommended to contact your property manager to determine what they provide.
- Bug spray
- Sun screen
- Offline maps on your phone
- The island can be difficult to navigate at night, and most cell phone providers' coverage is spotty on the island. Instructions on downloading offline maps in Google Maps can be found here.
- Food
- While there are a number of restaurants on the island, they can run out of food and are not open on specific days. No restaurant currently serves breakfast.
- Limited groceries are available on the island, but selection is limited. Purchasing food before coming to Daufuskie is strongly recommended.
- Casual clothing
- Packing light is recommended. Many rentals include washers and dryers.
- Rain gear
- Beach towels
- Medications
- Please note that there is nowhere to purchase prescription drugs on the island, so ensure that you have an adequate supply of any needed medicines before you arrive.
- Flashlights
- If you are coming during turtle season, red light covers are needed at night on the beach.
What should I not bring?
- Bottled water
- The water on the island is perfectly drinkable, so bringing water is an unnecessary, bulky item that is a burden for the ferry staff to carry.
